at church if anyone is interested. 

We are creating crafts to be sold so that the

church project for integrating the projection

system can get off the ground.

Ideally this system would show the week’s

announcements, the Bible reading, the hymm

lyrics, et cetera.  

Right now we obviously don’t have what we

need as we are not able to accomplish all of

these goals.  We do have some borrowed

equipment, but would like to return this to

the parishoner it is borrowed from. 

If you would like to come to our ladies’ group

and make something that would be great.  We

are looking at a sale in about 5 months, or less

if we get enough things to sell sooner. 

The goal is to buy a projector, screen, and a 

computer.  Someone once told me about

computer’s that have a docking station for

the laptop, so that may be what the goal is,

I am a little unclear about the technology.

If your business is getting rid of something like

this please also let me know.  A donation or

discounted price would be great, and very much 

appreciated.

I’m not one for babbling on, but sometimes

you jist have to let it out.

My little dog died. 

She was a small thing so I always had to watch her. 

This makes me cry just to think about. 

Last night I let her outside just before bedtime.

Same as usual.  But them something curious.

Couldn’t find her, and she didn’t come.   I got

maybe a few hours sleep at the most.  Where

she scooted off to i don’t know.  It’s never

happened before.  Kept calling and calling.

Our neighborhood is dark, so that didn’t

help.  All night. 

 
This morning in the light of day I found her.

I thought my heart would stop it was so sad.

Something must have gotten in the yard.

Something bigger than her.  She never hurt

anyone.  

This is beyond painful.  At least I know we

will meet again in Heaven.  That is the only

consolation for the moment. 

I guess it is good that God gave us breakable

hearts, so that they can mend someday. 

She was certainly a joy in our life.  Such a ray

of sunshine.

has taught me:

-To re-use, reclaim, recycle mistakes.

-To appreciate imperfection.

-To enjoy the journey, and not hurry to

the destination .

especially the knitting community.

-To create something from nothing

(well except a dream and a prayer).

-That having vision and hope is an essential

part of achieving success.

Whoever would think you could get wool

from a rabbit. Now that takes some innovative

thinking.

Back in the 1700s the legend has it that some

sailors in Turkey saw beautiful pieces of

clothing made from this fur.  Reportedly

they then brought back some of the rabbits

to France, after being told that it was rabbits

that were the source of this wool.

Do you believe that story?  The French want

to put dibs on being the first with angora.

Regardless of whether Turkey was first or

France was first, or if timing coincided for

rabbits in both places, the French pretty

much grasp the idea of the business potential

of these rabbits and their fur.  Then the rest

of Europe and the rest of the world figured

it out. 

Rabbits everywhere!

Thank goodness they made it to the USA

too. 

I just adore angora.

For one thing it is a dream to knit with.  It

is so soft and so fine.  Combined with

cashmere or lamb wool—what a joy.

It’s warm. 

It’s comfortable.

The one thing it isn’t, is cheap.

The other thing it isn’t is goat.  That is

called mohair.

Mostly because of my aching appendages.

More and more the pain of knitting has been

getting to me. 

Especially when I when I knit for too long

or a high volume.

One thing  I learned to do is to shakeout  

my hands and arms every so often  and

also to be taking regular breaks from the

work.

Also, I don’t like to sit with my elbows out

too high.

I have seen see some mentions of  using

gloves sold in knitting stores.  Has anyone

tried this?

One trick my grandma taught me for

“knitting pain”  is to be petting the cats

and dogs when it really hurts.

Before computers there was not really such

a thing.

Nowadays there are groups,  message boards,

meet-ups, and blogs all about knitting.

The knitting community is such an inspiration

to me.  So many people have put in so many

hours helping others. 

Every hat and sweater I knit for some little

child in Afghanistan gives me so much joy. 

All these volunteer projects make me happy

and utterly proud to be a knitter.

Whoever would have thought of knitters

as activists making the world a better place. 

But you better believe it.

At least I found it interesting.

For some people the circular needles cause pain,

I know.

The stash of yarn has grown again. 

Buying yarn is a passion and a curse at the

same time.  How can a person resist it, I

want to know.

The lovely animals who gave the wool

have to be appreciated, as well as the

craftsmen and women who cut and dyed

it.

As knitters this is what we talk about lots.  

That fact didn’t really help me when I

was in the store and saw the new shipment.

Haha

I’m thinking it will become sweaters for

my parents.  

Maybe for Christmas.

I really enjoy most everything, depending

on my mood.

I just got a book from the library that

others might like.  It’s called Bead Simple

and has a lot of designs for necklaces,

bracelets, and earrings.

I mentioned it to my girlfriend and when

she saw it, she really liked it.

 Most of the time I feel like knitting is

my favorite craft, but there is a part of

me that has always liked beading, since

I was a little girl.

Lots of knitters I believe also love to do

other crafts.  Altho it is true that there are

those knitting-only folks.

I kind of like to break up the pace every

so often, especially when I am in between

projects or working on a difficult project.

The book talks about choosing tools,

choosing materials, and how to construct

things.  

Who would have imagined!

Hibernia is the olde Roman-named label

for Ireland.  However, the green isle of

Ireland was never actually incorporated

into the ruddy Roman empire.

I do, however, come from lucky

red-headed Irish stock. And since my

name is Nia (get it, HiberNIA), and

since crafts are my life, this seemed

like a good website name. 

I’m hoping to find other crafty folks

here in cyberspace to get to know.
